Maikaze Daiko is a San Francisco-based Taiko Drumming group founded in 2007.  We are devoted to the study of both modern and traditional forms of Taiko drumming under the leadership of our sensei Bruce "Mui" Ghent.  We hold workshops and demo classes, practice together several times a week and perform regularly around the Bay Area.  We always welcome new members and and invite you to attend our next Introductory Workshop.

We hold drumming circles four times a year to come together to honor the season and to focus on healing for the community and the earth.

A class for beginners that will be learning specific ensemble pieces using drums, bells and shakers and also xylophones. The curriculum is called World Music Drumming. It draws on traditional rhythms from West Africa and Afro-Latin America as well as other cultures. It is a great place for adults and children (age 9 and older) to make music as equals. Of course, you don't have to be a family member to join.

This group is for people who are curious about TaKeTiNa, or who have already experienced it and want to dive deeper into rhythm as a tool for personal and social evolution. TaKeTiNa is a full-body, full-mind experience. It is simultaneously challenging and safe, and creates an atmosphere of no praise and no blame.
